The High Performance Athletic Mouthguard can serve as both an appliance to improve performance in sports such as golf, cycling, soccer and weight training, as well as a protective mouthguard for impact sports like boxing, football and hockey.
Getting a High Performance Athletic Mouthguard involves two visits to see Dr. Shirley or Dr. Kenny. During the first visit you sit in a comfortable chair in her dental studio while a TENS unit (Transcutaneous Electro Neural Stimulation) is used to help relax your muscles, putting them in the most comfortable position possible. We then use a computer to find the optimal position of your jaw and an impression is taken.
Two weeks later you return for a much shorter visit to have your High Performance Athletic Mouthguard appliance fitted.
